Sapsucker School
of Community Provisioning

Come learn with us and reconnect with the skills of the hands and the knowledge of the land.
School Philosophy:
Our community has the ability to produce much of what we need to thrive. When we work together, learn from each other, and share our abundance we can begin to create the alternative systems to make our communities healthy, cohesive and resilient.

Sapsucker Class Series
Home Farming Series
Monthly classes will bring you onto Sapsucker Farm for an immersive day learning about the community provisioning tasks of the season. We will tend animals; care for the orchard; plan, sow and reap from the garden; manage pastures; forage and steward wild spaces; preserve and process our harvests; craft soap, baskets, and rugs; mend clothing; and repair buildings and tools.
Joins us for a single class or come each month and share in the full season round of living on the land.

Herbcraft Series
Facilitated by clinical herbalist and botanist Taylore, these sessions provide participants with an opportunity to explore the wheel of the year through seasonal medicine making workshops and herbal therapeutics lectures with a bioregional and community care focus.
Participants will have the opportunity to make and learn about a variety of plant medicines, develop their own medicinal plant portfolios and home apothecaries, deepen their knowledge of body systems, and together explore practices that promote reciprocal, responsible relationship to the plant communities that support our health.

Botany Series
This class series takes you off the farm to special wild places with botanists Taylore and Sierra. Come and explore the beauty and abundance of the plants, lichens and mushrooms in our sublime corner of the world.
Learn common names and uses of plants. Try your hand at botanical keys and Latin binomials. Learn plant parts and families. We will hike, picnic, swim and forage as the season and location provide.
All skill levels and interest are welcome. Field trips will be to public and private lands – some trips may require day passes for parking. See individual classes for details.
