Instructor Bio: Ell Rieke

Ell Rieke (they/them) is a singer, ritualist, and licensed massage therapist living and working in the traditional lands of the st̓əč̓as (Steh-Chass) people of the Squaxin Island Tribe. Ell is a lifelong musician and currently a voracious learner of ancestral singing practices from many regions, including Scotland, Ireland, the Balkans, Ukraine, and the Republic of Georgia. Ell is also held and influenced by singing practices of present day spiritual, cultural and political communities they participate in. Ell’s ritual work grows from over a decade of study and community practice in queer, earth based, ancestrally informed spirituality. They practice massage therapy and ritual/celebrant consulting at the Moving Parts Dance studio in downtown Olympia. Ell also leads an experimental folk choir, plans community events, hangs out with their dog, stares at rivers, and reads a lot of fantasy novels. A longtime Olympia resident, Ell is committed to the slow and sacred work of building community in devastating times.
